Meet Waqas!

You all are probably wondering who is Waqas...this is Waqas!

My new guitar! Waqas means warrior (just found that out) and that name just ROCKS! One of my favorite names.

I've been wanting a guitar for quite a while now (and have been wanting to learn it for like...forever) , so I made up my mind and said in the summer (which is in November) I'm gonna get a full time job (Inshallah) and save up money to get a guitar! I shared this idea of mine to the closest people to me (number 1 is Sara). I don't know what was going through her head this girl...but all I can say is that my birthday came really really early this year (birthday in November). I basically got the biggest surprise ever. You know when you want something really really bad and it's suddenly in front of you...that kinda SHOCK/SURPRISE. The guitar is one of the two things I wanted this year. So here's what happened. I got a txt last Friday:

Sara: "G can you please come over. I had a huge fight with *insert name here*."
G: "Ya satir. 3ala shoo?" *At this point my heart fell into my stomach.*
Sara: "*insert another name here*"
G: "Uuuf 3ala *the other name here*...be there asap just gotta pray."

So anyways, I prayed and went to Sara's house. Knocked on the door and Sara freakishly opens it straight away...I was O.O

G: "Hi..." *in a soft low voice*
Sara: Just smiling at me.
G: -____- *stares at Sara*
Sara: "Just stay there for a sec."
G: "What the hell is going on?"

Sara goes and comes back carrying a guitar shaped cardboard box.

Sara: "This is for you!!!!!"
G: O.o.....

Then it all sunk in...and I went craaaaaazy! Only Sara can explain the reaction XD
Then it became worse...Sara opened the box and I saw the guitar...it was Black. EXACTLY what I wanted. My craziness became crazier.

Then Sara's flat mate came out and started shouting.

FM: "I KNEW ABOUT IT HAHAHAHAHA."

I just could not believe Sara! What a sweet heart and a crazy girl for buying me a guitar. I couldn't stop thanking her! *goes to corner and cries*

To Sara: YOU RUUUUUULE!!! =D

So yea...since Friday all I've been doing is learning stuff about the guitar. I went out and got it tuned because I'm still a "noob" and I don't know how to tune a guitar. The music shop was AMAZING! My eye's were about to pop out of their sockets at all the amazing guitars there. This old dude (awesome dude) came and helped me. Told me what picks to start out with (Pick of destiny =p). He gave me 2 picks. One is 50mm and the other 60mm. As I get used to the playing I can get stronger picks. He also told me to buy a tuner...so I can learn how to tune my own guitar. I was stoked! So far I've learned the intro of 2 songs.

1- Stone sour - Through the glass.
2- Linkin Park - In the end.

I still have a problem with moving between frets and strings. But so far so good!

High speed car chase!

Yea...finally something exciting happened in Hamilton! XD

It was around 11:40pm or 11:50pm...we were all about to go to sleep, road was dead empty. I was in my mom's room chatting to her when suddenly we hear an engine roar hard out past our house...my bro went running out of his room...opened the side door of the house...and started shouting:

Bro: "HOLY SH!T....HOLY SH!T...IT'S A CHASE!!"

I went running to the living room to see through the windows what's going on and truly saw a chase. A really dark colored car ahead and 2 police cars chasing it. They were so FAST!

The "escapee" suddenly took a sharp left into a really dark neighborhood. Then we saw like 5 more police cars from the opposite direction (hello...no wonder they went left) coming towards the turn that the "escapee" took. Then my bro's shouts of "Holy SH!T" started again XD The "escapee" took a few more turns and they all disappeared...couldn't be seen because they went deeper into the neighborhoods. Me and my bro looked at each other...this was pretty awesome and crazy! XD

On a serious note...crime in NZ is dramatically increasing, which is very bad. So who knows what's gonna happen next =S

Lesson learned:
- Always check your doors before you leave the house and before you sleep.
- Car chases may look cool but everyone knows they only lead to bad endings.

Officially blonde when in the state of tiredness

Yup...just like the title says...I said the stupidest thing today! Though it was very funny.
This all occurred while sitting in COMP340 class (10 minutes before the lecture started). So here's what happened.

K = classmate.
Sara = best friend.
G-Chan = me.

K: "Hey! I bought the book for this course...oi it's very expensive. It costs $132.00. And that's after the discount."

Sara: "Oh wow!"

G-Chan: "Oooh really! Is this price for the tickets to Australia for a few days or is it the one where you won't be coming back?"

K: ...........O.o *stares at me*

Sara: (Extends her hand and pats my head) "Forgive her...she's still very tired. G he was talking about the book for this course."

G-Chan: "O.O Ahahahahaha...OMG! Are you serious...ahahahaha (puts hands on face)....I thought you were talking about....ahahahahaha.....the tickets.....ahahaha....for Australia?!?!" (Fit of laughter)

K and Sara laugh, stare at me and shake their heads.

G-Chan: "You know what (trying to hold back laughter) i'll just stay quite an let you guys do the talking!"

Sara: Continues talking to K.

G: Spaces out.

Obviously I haven't been cured from yesterday. Lack of sleep is killing me and making me say things that have no meaning what so ever.

Anyways...the lecture was ULTRA longer than usual. I seriously wanted to sleep. I managed to take a 20 second nap. It was very nice...at first everything around me became louder, then the loudness started to disappear. Though the back of my head kind of kept me awake, telling me "if you sleep you will bang your head on the table and plus your sitting in the first row so the lecturer will see you sleeping". I opened my eyes and saw there was 20 minutes left till the lecture finished. It was the longest 20 minutes EVER!

The lecture finished. Sara and I walked home happily! Though she did give me a hard time about the whole discussion with K! HAHA! I still can't believe I said that o.O

Lesson learned from today:
- Do not socialize with anyone when in the state of MAJOR tiredness. Stay away from everyone as much as you can till you get enough sleep and is back to normal.

Omani Coffee!

I feel like..."Shish kebab"! I think this is going to be the most tiring day...*sigh*

The Muslim club held a Iftar (break fast) at uni yesterday. It was great fun. Food was ULTRA chili...and for the first time I tried Anchovies. HOLY! It's so strong! So yea...we ate, talked, prayed...good fun and nice to meet people from different countries! Then an Omani dude (classmate) brought us this huge kettle (what ever it's called) full of Omani coffee. I said to myself:

G-Chan: "Hey why not...I'll go try some."

So I did. First I had a smaaaaall cup. It was really nice. Then after cleaning up 7:45pm or something I decided to drink more. So I filled up a huge cup (XD) and drank it. I enjoyed it...even though I knew it's gonna keep me up all night...I still drank (such a cow XD). Elmuhim (anyways) went home...chatted to people (-___-), processed my messed up COMP325 assignment in Microsoft word, and.....don't remember what else I did. When it was "time to sleep"...unshockingly and unsuprisingly (if there are such words). I was devastated (XD)...so I ended up starting a drawing for a friend. I'll share it when it's done....IT'S TAKING AAAAGES THOUGH! Taking the longest time so far...and it's not even half complete.I ended up drawing till 2am. Got into bed and set the timer to 4am to wake up for so7oor. Had 2 hours and 1 minute for sleep *cries*.

So7oor came....finished everything I needed to do then didn't go back to sleep...cos I knew if I did it would kill me when I wake up in the morning. So here I am...had chatted to 2 people (who i really enjoyed talking to), worked some more on the drawing and now blogging...am dizzy and talking/writing Gibberish so probably half the stuff (if not most) doesn't make sense.

Lesson learned from all of this:

- Learn from previous mistakes and don't repeat them.
- If coffee really gets to you....never drink it after 6pm (or even earlier).
- Sleep is very important.

Secret Jungle

For 3 years...THREE YEARS...Sara and I have been studying at Waikato University and today we just discovered this amazing "secret jungle" situated in front of home-base (the labs...R-Block).

This is what happened.

The whole day we were sitting in the labs "trying" to do work. I got really bored and tired of sitting in the lab, so I told Sara lets go for a walk...get some fresh air. After a little complaining from Sara:

Sara: "we are not leaving R-block...will just walk in side."
G-chan: "-____________-"

we left the lab and reached the entrance....

Sara: "Heeeey! I said we're not leaving R-block!!!!"
G-chan: "Yaaallaaa..."
Sara: "Okay fine...bes in ONE condition!" *Pointing one finger*
Sara: "You have to follow me."
G-chan: "6ayeb OK! Let's just go."

So Sara walked and I followed. Sara went to a place that is opposite home-base and kept on walking and I followed...then we saw the entrance (laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah) *holy music*. Naaaah it was just stairs that led you down to a Jungle! So we started going down the stairs in complete O.O...I suddenly remembered I don't have my phone and this looks adventurous XD (want to take photos) so I went back to the lab (Sara stayed back) and got my phone. Ran back to Sara and started shooting!





This last picture is one of the scariest plants I have ever seen. It's actually black with brown "fur" that can be erased when touched. The huge "poles" reminded me of the tentacles in that movie...what's it called...uuum...the Tom Cruise one where they got attacked by these robotic aliens (War of the Worlds??). Anyways it was those robotic alien tentacles that i remembered XD It was pretty scary. I dared Sara to touch the fur. She was scared at first (wants to do it and doesn't want to at the same time)...but she was brave enough and she did and started screaming out:

Sara: "CAT FUR!!! IT'S LIKE CAT FUR."
G-chan: *laughing*

And she goes and touches it again.

Sara: "Touch it...it's really soft."
G-chan: extending out my hand.

It is like cat's fur...which is sooooo weird. A plant with cat fur.
I accidently SMUDGE the brown "fur" and it disappeared and all I saw is the black color o.O

It was fun and funny. Heard funny noises also...noises made by HUMEN BEINGS!O.o XD

So yea...we couldn't believe that this all was in front of home-base.
After that we walked back to the labs cheered up. When we left the jungle, the weather was so warm and sunny. I swear it felt like a different world in there. It was quite cold but nice!

Liven it up with Graffiti

Took these images with my phone today. Thought the Graffiti looked pretty cool! I think they're Arts students who were asked to "Liven up" the building site walls. I think they're doing a pretty good job! Wanted to take a closer look...but didn't want to disturb them =)

The horror house

I've had braces for almost 2 years now. Today I had a dentist appointment...you know the normal stuff...change the elastics, etc, etc. But today was completely different. The appointment took longer than usual. The dentist put a lot of some creamy/waxy/sticky stuff on the bottom row teeth...which was really annoying and disgusting. The machine that sucked the saliva was used a couple of times as well. That was funny...because my tongue just followed it everywhere XD It's an automatic thing that you have no control over (lol).

I was just lying there on the so uncomfortable chair when I see the dentist get a "drill machine". I was like "Gosh this is gonna be painful". It wasn't. It was just very shaky. He used it to shape the gums around my teeth.

Then I saw blood on the dentists gloves...I was like WOOOOW! This is serious "shish kebab". That point I noticed a scary thing. Light shining on my eyes and face, have two people staring down at me "operating" on my teeth...and seeing blood, just made me think of the movie SAW :s
No wonder kids used to call the dentist The horror house...or is it Nightmare house? *thinks*
Hahahaha! Anyways after he finished he told me to rinse my mouth because of the blood and told me to tell the receptionist to book another appointment for me.

G: "Okay! Thank you very much."
Dr: "You're doing very well...the teeth are coming along good!"
G: "Oh cool! That's awesome. Thank you!"
Dr: "See ya."

So I went to the area where you can rinse your teeth. I look at the mirror to see what exactly he had done. My reaction was:

G: "What the HELL!!!! Omg! No way!"

Yes!!! He had removed the braces on the whole row of the bottom teeth. I was happy and shocked as well because he didn't tell me that he was gonna do this. All is well and good though! YAAAAAAY! =D

Hopefully the next appointment he removes the braces on the top teeth!

Gosh what a long day! I thought it would never end.
Had 22% worth of assignments to hand in today :s...what the hell?!?!
COMP321...2000-4000 word report (data mining) which i got done after so7oor and is worth 10% of the internal mark. The other assignment is a loooooong as COMP340 (logic in computer science) proofing formulas assignment, etc. It was worth 12%. It was really hard but 7amdulellah everything has been handed in now (at the last minute -___-) so gonna relax today and watch Abla Noura...which Sara got me into watching XD
