Don't be fooled!

Ok! So handed in a huge group report on Monday and HOLY! was it a relief to get rid of that huge assignment (COMP451 - Model Base Testing) or what?! I've started my holiday already xD Even though I still have got 2 small assignments to hand on Sunday, which I will tackle sometime...later...this week =P

Today we had presentations (for COMP442) and I was number 5 (my favorite number btw =D) to speak. Sara went before me and mashallah she did a great job! While me on the other hand...haha...I don't know! First of all I have a cold, so basically my nose is blocked and runny (more like a nafoora -____-), and I spoke from my nose xD I didn't practice much, because everytime I practiced, I changed the words. I ended up speaking really fast (dont' think I was nervous xD), because I just wanted to finish and sit in my chair so I can blow my runny nose =(...plus I couldn't breath xD I managed to say everything I needed to say and when I asked Sara how I did (?) she told me I was saree3a (too fast). I asked her if I was understandable though...she just looked at me and gave me this cheeky smile that told me that the answer was "NO". Aaaah well! xD

Anyways, tomorrow is the 1st of April O.O and my advice to you is:

"Don't be fooled, be the fooler"

xD I made that up by the way! *does it even make sense?* xD

Just don't hurt anyone in the process...that's not nice :|

A heavenly sachet!

After "quitting" coffee for almost 2 years - due to it being un-healthy *yeah right* and how it affects me heavily - I'm addicted and back to drinking it again >.<

I blame Memento (a nice cafe at Uni) for making AMAZING Mocha!!! *Damn you Memento...but I love you xD*

I found this packet of amazing-ness at the super market yesterday and jumped for joy at the sight of it. It was off the shelf in no time and into my shopping basket <3

What's so cool about these sachets is, first, you don't need to do anything but add hot (not boiling - as instructed xD) water. Though I add a spoon of sugar just to sweeten it up a little bit. Second, you get the foam "effect" as well!!!! So when you drink it you get a dark-beige mustache xD

I can have cafe made coffee...AT HOME!!! xD

I know, I know...coffee is not good (bla bla bla) and we shouldn't drink it a lot. But damnation, the Mocha is just too damn good >.<

-----------

Here's G-chan for yah....blogging about coffee =S
Just show's how boring life is lately xD
Aargh...a 2 week mid-semester holiday is around the corner (5 days left)...I shall take revenge on uni (even though I love it) and it's evil assignments and projects, by being absolutely lazy and do nothing but have fun xD

Terrified of my Memory

It's been a while, since I.... (8)

So anyways…it’s seems that I have this, what to call it, problem where I seem to forget something when I want to say it. Like I thought of it and when I come to take it out…it’s out of my head just like that *snaps fingers*. I kinda feel bad for the people around me who have to deal with this “flaw” in me…especially Sara. I mean, today during our COMP442/542 lecture, I remembered something (I have this feeling where it was something important O.o) and I couldn’t talk during the lecture, so I whispered to Sara quickly:

G: “Remind me to tell you something later.”
Sara: *Nod*

Guess what…just as the lecture finished and as we walked to the next lectures room (it was a double lecture but in different rooms :S…lecturer’s excuse is we need exercise and fresh air xD)…I completely forgot what I wanted to tell Sara…COMPLETELY! I got called “Kachra” (rubbish) for forgetting.

Through out the second lecture I just sat there trying to remember what I wanted to say….and sadly nothing came back =(

I have no idea what the cause of this could be…BIG question mark (?)

Other than that, Uni is going…Okay. Don’t know what else to say about it except that it’s a lot of work and we’re kinda imprisoned in home-base (the computer labs) through out the whole week except when we go have lunch, which is for 1 hour -_______-

Listening to: Josh Groban – Mi Morena <<< Damn! I can’t get enough of this song...it’s eating me alive *heart*

Reading: Interview with the Vampire (Part I) by Anne Rice. Also reading Web Dragons (COMP442) and Practical Model-Based Testing (COMP451)

That’s it from me. Have to start on my COMP462 assignment (good copy) which is due tomorrow >.<

Before and After

Hey hey!

Bless Sara's little soul for bringing her awesome (mashallah) camera to uni today and for actually trusting me with it xD She taught me how to hold it, what to press, what Macro and Portrait modes do *I suck at Macro mode...hard to control the focus*, and how to turn off the flash. I took a couple of photos and I must say I loved "shooting" with that camera. It was amazing, and I haven't held a camera in like 2 months or something *since my dear old camera passed away*.

So here are some of the shots I took. Now the title of the post says "Before and After", so the Before shots are the originals, and the After shots are the Edited shots done by Sara herself (I said shots a lot xD)...

In the System

Laaaah *holy music* and winter is upon us...or it's more like a cold front (is this the right term? xD) coming from Antarctica or something. I'm loving it, but all my warm, wintery clothes are put away >.< so I'm not enjoying it as much as I'd like to. The wind attacked us today. Sara's scarf turned into a parachute, and I got put in a "Marlin Monroe situation" -_______- loool.

Uni is...normal I guess.
I think I did a mean thing the other day...to someone I don't even know xD
This new Indian chick joined our COMP442 class and poor thing she was all over the place. Doesn't know anything. So Sara was helping her out telling her what to do and where to go *the Indian girl was sitting next to Sara, I was sitting on Sara's other side*, while I listend to the lecturer.

Ian: "We're expecting 2 new students to this class...are they here?
Class: ......... *chatter*
Ian: "Is Veraa and <another name> here?"
Class: ......... *chatter*
Ian: *got angry because the 2 new students didn't show up so he just started explain what's going to "go down" in the lecture*

Then I say to the new Indian girl:

G: "What's your name?"
Indian girl: "My name? Veera"
G: "Umm...the lecturer just called your name."
Veera: =O "What should I do?"
G: "Ah just raise your hand and tell him who you are."

Poor girl actually stood up (to our surprise) raising her hand and waving it shouting out what seemed like in a "loud voice":

Veera: "Sir...excuse me sir! ......... Sir! Excuse me!"
Ian:*looking at the floor talking* "and my phd student veronica is going to explain to you how this digital book works........"

Ian wasn't even looking at us so he wasn't able to see her xD

G: "Ah you don't have to stand up."
Veera: "hahaha...did I look ridicoulus?!"
G: "Hehe...not at all. You know what, after the lecture just go up to Ian and tell him that you were here."
Veera: "Alright, thank you =)"

I think she's totally new her and hasn't learned the "system". I guess she's still following her countries system?!

Now you guys are probably wondering why I call my lecturer by his first name...this is how it is here. The lecturer's prefer the students to call them by their first names instead of sir, doctor or professor. I remember when Ian first introduced himself to us (class) he totally emphasized on us not to call him sir, or doctor, etc...but to just call him Ian; after that been said, a Saudi guy goes, after being asked if his name was pronounced correctly:

Saudi: "yes sir! That's correct sir."
Ian: "Ok good but don't call me sir." he actually turned red xD

When we want to say something, we don't have to raise our hand or stand up. We can just go "excuse me <insert lecturers first name> but why is the bla bla bla, bla bla?!". Though we usually raise our hands.

Work and reading are already piling up O.O so will have to be serious about all of this...lol.

Have started a drawing, but again I failed miserably in it. I've lost the "will" to draw...which kinda sucks. I don't know what I'm going to do about the drawing because I feel that there's no point continueing with it.

Anyways, I'm off to sleep.

G'Night.

[Music] The Thomas Oliver Band - In my Bones

I'm so into this song...that I've been listening to it non-stop the past 3 days or so. Definitely fascinated by the instrument used by the main singer (although it looks like a normal guitar xD). Liking the lyrics....while loving the music and voice. I like the part just before he starts singing "I've gotta learn to want the feeling I get in my bones" (something like that)...you hear the guitar then short pauses in between <3

Night!

[What's this?] Something else

hmm...sometimes I think of things where in a away I plan them out or imagine the outcome of a situation. I think of every possible side of a situation, so I go prepared if the outcome was good or bad.

Sometimes I'm freakishly sure of what's going to happen or how it's going to be, and when it's all done, I'm happy with the outcome (was expecting it because I decided it) but something hits me afterwards (I realize something after a long while), because I end up feeling down when I think about it. I realize that I'm not fully, let's say, satisfied with what's happened, or how things turned out. Like as if I was expecting more.

I don't like this feeling...because it confuses me. I start thinking even more if I did the right thing or was it useless to me (?) or am I regretting doing the right thing (?), is it the right thing (?), etc. The thing is, one cannot just rewind time and change a part of a certain plan. Like it's there...it's done. If I think of trying to do something I might just end up making things worse.

hmm...I guess lesson learned from all of this is never to plan, or imagine an outcome, or expect something more. It could be disappointing later on.

*I have no idea what I just blogged about O.O*

Mini concert at uni

After our COMP442 lecture today, Sara and I headed out to the food area to get some food. It turned out that there were a number of bands from all over the north island have come to our dear Waikato university to play some live gigs. I got pretty excited, because I saw some drums, and a couple of GORGEOUS guitars so totally wanted to check it out. Stage was huge and speakers were huger =D
So we went and got some DELICIOUS Sushi *day dreams of sushi* found a table in a perfect place next to the stage where we can see everything, and devoured our delicious lunch while they were setting things up.

Then it started!

The Thomas Oliver Band

They're a kiwi band so they won't be known World Wide...but I came to find that they are pretty famous here in NZ. All I can say is that they were GREAT! They're music, beats, vocals, songs were amazing. Sara and I totally enjoyed their 5 songs that they played. They are pretty talented. What's also awesome about them is how they were PERFECTLY in Sync O.O...that was awesome!!!

Sadly, I have a crappy/old phone (Nokia6630...will be getting a new one soon inshallah), so the sound/video quality are pretty bad =( But will share anyway..

Awesome right!!
The crazy person who was waving their hand in front of the phone was Sara xD
*check the related videos to hear their music* + *first youtube vid xD*

So after they finished playing...Sara and I sat there waiting for what looked like an emo-ish band to start their playing, till I turned to my right and I found the drummer of "The Thomas Oliver Band" standing between Sara and I (they saw me recording them I think, because he asked if I took any good pics) xD Had a small conversation with him which allowed us to find out more stuff about the band (who's it named after, it's name, when their album is coming out, etc).

The next band came on...and didn't like their music that much. So we left for home-base (R-block) to do some "work".

There are more concerts tonight (after half an hour), Sara and I wanted to go and take my bro with us...but the weather is terrifying. Wind and Rain O.O -________-

[Music] Breaking Benjamin - Dance With The Devil

I've listened to this song atleast 20 times so far...YES it's THAT good!

Lily (Twinkle) dedicated it to me on ES and it's the first I know of this song. Loved it...so thanx lily!! <3 Didn't know of this from Breaking Benjamin!!! Best song I've ever heard from BB!

Extra-ordinary laugh

That's EXACTLY how my COMP442 lecturer laughs. Damn his expression totally changes (e.g. >o<) when he laughs, and the laugh its self is deafening and loud. One of the funniest and unique laughs I ever heard xD

So 2 days have passed by since uni started. What I can say is so far so good. Though I'm still not used to it after having such a long holiday (4 months <3). The uni has been "modified" in a pretty hardcore way. We have an area that looks like a HUGE shopping mall now. People are still "moving in"...restaurants, cafe's, pharmacy and God knows what else. I haven't eaten from my favorite place, Bongo Sushi <3, yet but Sara has and she says they've got new types os sushi and they're really good. So might be eating some tomorrow *excited*

Now for the subjects I'm taking. They all turned out to be interesting. They're so different from each other. I still don't know exactly what we have to do for 2 of them...maybe because we haven't taken anything yet. But what I can say so far is that COMP442 has gotten my attention. I think it's going to be the funnest paper this semester! Oh...one of the assignments for this paper is to write a screenplay. We have to do this assignment in pairs *eyeing Sara =P* So let's see how it goes.

I think I've become less nervous about the whole uni thing now that life is "back to normal". Though I'm quite sad that I haven't gotten the chance to meet up or say hi to some friends or people that I know. Hope that happens later on.

Here's my timetable for the semeter...for real O.O

I guess the rest of the time will be used to do assignments/projects...that's scary to think about.
HEY! What's that?!?! -_______-
I have a lecture at 9am tomorrow morning (just saw this)...oh man!! -_____-
Holy Monday and Wednesday are the same =O

Guys, Cars and looks

Inzain (OK) so what is it with Guys, their cool cars, and looking cool/cold/mean (expressions)?!?! lool.

So I noticed this when I went out with mama to town the other day....a hardcore modified station wagon passed by us, with 2 really young guys (I give them an age range of 15-17) sitting wearing dark shades, lips sealed and not moving a single muscle on their face. They weren't even talking to each other. They had their windows rolled down so we can hear the bass system in their car. They looked funny but for some reason the whole cool/cold look with shades and a hardcore modified car seem to go together very well.

So today I went out for a ride in my bro's new car and I noticed the same thing about him that I noticed with those 2 guys in town xD I looked so un-cool sitting next to him because I was doing everything all wrong. He had the cool shades on, sealed lips as if he looks like a cool/mean person while I on the other hand...I had my medical glasses on, and was smiling like an idiot because I was enjoying the music that was on and how SUPER BASS-Y (very loud also) it was O.O lol...I so did not suit with the car xD....I will be prepared next time (6) Hahaha xD (so messed up)

---------------

Starting Uni tomorrow -_______-
So not looking forward to it. I've become so used to being lazy and not doing anything that the idea of going back to study and working is freaking me out xD....=S

Anyways papers for this semester are:

- COMP442 Web Search: Technical and Social Issues =D
- COMP451 Model-Based Testing -____-
- COMP462 Grace Hopper Topics in Computer Science O.O

I have 2 lectures tomorrow. First one starts at 9am -___- (how am I supposed to wake up xD) and the second one at 3pm -___-

Will see how it goes O.O
